Onix Ensemble to perform at Illinois College

4.04.2019

Onix Ensemble, an extraordinarily talented group of musicians from Mexico, will perform at Illinois College as part of the Fine Arts Series on Sunday, April 14 at 3 p.m. in Rammelkamp Chapel.

Noted for their stunning performance, Onix has built a reputation for an appealing and varied repertoire, with works ranging from modern to the classics of the 20th century. The concert will feature the premiere of a new work by IC’s Timothy Kramer, Edward Capps Professor of Humanities and Professor of Music. Kramer wrote the piece to highlight the stunning flute, clarinet, violin, cello and piano talents of Onix.

Reviewers of performances and recordings of Onix have praised the group as hypnotic, technically accomplished and entertaining with performances that “wrapped the audience with exhilarating rhythms and extraordinary expressiveness.”

This is the last performance of the Illinois College Fine Arts Series. Tickets are $15 each and students of all ages receive free admission. Tickets are available for purchase in advance by phone at 217.245.3046 or at the door.
