Jazz band to perform at Illinois College

The Great American Jazz Band will perform in Rammelkamp Chapel on Saturday, March 26, at 7:30 p.m. as part of IC’s Fine Arts Series.

The six-piece band will present an exciting tribute to the heritage of New Orleans, with music, historical anecdotes and stories of such legends as Louis Armstrong, Joseph “King” Oliver, Jelly Roll Morton, Al Hirt and Pete Fountain.

These world-class jazz players have performed with such greats as The Dukes of Dixieland, The Beverly Hills Unlisted Jazz Band, The Olympia Brass Band, Cab Calloway, Al Hirt, Bill Watrous, Nat Adderley, Pee Wee Hunt, The Four Freshmen, The Modernaires, The Pied Pipers, and the big bands of Glenn Miller, Jimmy Dorsey, Harry James, Stan Kenton, Bill Holman, Clark Terry and Ray McKinley.

Individual tickets for the Illinois College Fine Arts Series are $15 each. Students of all ages receive free admission. Tickets are available for purchase in advance by phone at 217.245.3192 or at the door on event day.
