Kalli Avera ’25 always knew she wanted to work in mental health, but it wasn’t until Illinois College launched a concentration in alcohol and drug counseling that her path became crystal clear. Now, she’s headed into the field with 560 hours of clinical internship under her belt and plans to become a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC).
Kate Burr ’25 found her place at Illinois College through two passions: science and teaching. A double major in biology and education, Kate now heads to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville to earn her master’s in biology, with dreams of teaching at the collegiate level.
Kaylee Anderson ’25 came to Illinois College determined to pursue nursing, but she leaves with a vision even greater: to become a labor and delivery nurse, return for her master’s, earn a doctorate, and one day open her own clinic and teach the next generation.
Paige Walker ’25 came to Illinois College from Birmingham, Alabama, ready to blaze her own trail. With a double major in business administration and agribusiness, she merged two worlds, corporate leadership and agriculture, to shape a career that’s uniquely her own.
Brennen Smith ’25 didn’t always envision himself in college, but at Illinois College, he found a direction and a future in service.
Josh Harris ’25 arrived at Illinois College from Maywood, Illinois, recruited to play basketball. It was the relationships, classroom experiences and leadership opportunities, however, that shaped his broader vision for the future.
Illinois College is making history with its first graduates from the new four-year mechanical engineering program, and Hannah Lueke ’25 is among the trailblazers.
Marvin Romo ’25, a senior biology major with a concentration in physiology, was named Illinois College’s 2024 Lincoln Laureate. Romo was honored for his academic excellence, leadership, and campus involvement.
Alex Johnson ’25, a senior studying business and sports management, highlights the importance of internships in shaping her career.
While Walker Brown ’25 was initially drawn to Illinois College because his brother Marshall Brown ’22 attended, he ended up choosing IC because of the opportunities he would have as an agribusiness major.
Clayton Crawford ’24, a business administration and accounting major from Springfield, Illinois, has made the most of his time at Illinois College. Despite starting his college journey during the challenges of COVID-19, Crawford embraced the situation, strengthening bonds with his football team and faculty.
“When I was initially comparing different colleges and universities in the United States, I noticed IC was a small community,” Kevin Lopez Jimenez ’24 of Mexico explains. “Because of that, I knew that I was going to be able to develop meaningful relationships with my professors and classmates.”
