Accreditation reaffirms Illinois College as a trusted leader in higher education
Illinois College has again earned reaffirmation of accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), a distinction the College has proudly maintained for over 100 years. The College was granted a 10-year reaffirmation of accreditation with no follow-up reports required.

In 2024, only 58% of schools reviewed by the HLC earned this outcome. For students and families making one of life’s most important investments, this recognition signals something essential: Illinois College delivers its promise to provide a high-quality, life-defining education.
“Earning continued accreditation reaffirms the educational values Illinois College stands for—academic excellence, a student-first culture, and a deep commitment to preparing graduates for meaningful careers and lives of impact,” said President Barbara A. Farley.
For prospective students, IC’s commitments mean:
- Degrees recognized by top employers and graduate schools
- Access to federal financial aid and scholarship opportunities
- Majors and classes that evolve with today’s global and professional demands
- A campus culture that prioritizes student success at every step
Accreditation by the HLC is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and affirms that Illinois College is delivering the education it promises. In short, students can be confident they’re making a smart investment in their future.
The HLC’s reaffirmation of accreditation is a vote of confidence in Illinois College. Illinois College continues to build an international reputation for inspiring achievement and empowering students to make a difference in the world.
