What do you enjoy most about working with students?

As an Illinois College alum and a practicing nurse in the area, I love that I get to help prepare students who may someday become my colleagues and care for the same communities that shaped me. Being a psychiatric nurse has also taught me how important it is to really know the person in front of you, and I try to bring that same approach to my students by learning who they are, what motivates them, and where they want nursing to take them. One of the most rewarding parts of my job is watching students find their place in nursing and knowing that our relationship does not have to end at graduation; I get to continue cheering them on as fellow nurses and IC alumni.
