#TogetherIC aims to help students affected by pandemic

4.23.2020

Illinois College is launching a campaign to raise funds for students facing unprecedented financial hardships and academic challenges because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Gifts to the IC Fund make it possible to respond to students in an hour of need and demonstrate to them that our extended family of alumni and friends are a bedrock they can rely upon.

Gifts made to the IC Fund will help the effort to aid students coping with the sudden loss of access to food, housing, employment and the academic support that they depend on.

Executive Director of Development and Alumni Relations Kris Houser ’91 explained that the campaign was developed in response to many dedicated alumni and friends of Illinois College who have contacted her office with questions about how to help students.

"During challenging times, it's important to know that you can rely on a family network,” Houser said. “That's what #TogetherIC is all about. Gifts to the IC Fund make it possible to respond to students in an hour of need and demonstrate to them that our extended family of alumni and friends are a bedrock they can rely upon."

Houser notes that the IC Fund has always addressed students’ most immediate needs and will continue to do so during this time. Gifts will support a wide range of needs including scholarships, technology to stay connected, and day-to-day essentials including food for those students in need.
