Nichol DelGiorno teaches keyboard, musicology, and voice at Illinois College while remaining an active professional musician herself. Formerly Director of Liturgy and Music at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception/Associate Director of Music for the Springfield Catholic Diocese, she now serves as organist and choirmaster at Temple B’rith Sholom and the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Paul, both in Springfield, Illinois. A recipient of the Crystal Organ Fellowship, she will receive the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Organ Performance (with a cognate field in musicology) from the University of Illinois in December 2018. Her research centers on the organ works of 17th-century South German composer Johann Ulrich Steigleder. Professor DelGiorno is also a scholar of Cuban music and, in October 2017, presented at an international symposium at the University of Pinar del Río in Pinar del Río, Cuba. She travels regularly to Pinar del Río to continue her research and work with their center for music, assisting in their music preservation efforts. As a performer, Nichol has concertized as both soloist and collaborative keyboardist. She is also an active vocalist, conductor, and composer. Having served as the dean and sub-dean of the Springfield chapter of the American Guild of Organists, she now serves as the professional concerns liaison for the chapter.
