Bio

A native of Jacksonville, Tyler Carpenter recently moved back to his home state and founded the Illinois College Drumline in the Fall of 2020. He also teaches percussion lessons and percussion ensemble at IC.

Carpenter is a well-rounded percussionist and educator with expertise in marching percussion, steel pans, drumset, hand drums, and all areas of classical percussion. He received his bachelor's in Music Education from South Dakota State University and his master's in Music Performance from the University of Akron. He was a very active educator and performer in Ohio and Utah from 2008-2019 and continues to perform and teach extensively in Central Illinois.

Additionally, Carpenter spent four years playing with the Cleveland Browns Drumline and has toured Europe as a percussion soloist. He is a member of the Percussive Arts Society and a member of the Illinois Music Educator's Association.
