Public Safety

The Department of Public Safety personnel provides a number of services and works collaboratively with the Jacksonville Police Department and the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department to provide a living and learning community that is safe for all who live and work on campus.

Campus-wide community outreach is practiced by students, faculty, and staff who understand that remaining attentive to the safety needs of our campus is instrumental to proactively creating an environment where criminal behavior is not tolerated.

Security officers conduct foot and vehicle patrols of the campus 24 hours a day when school is in session.

An escort to any location on campus may be obtained by calling the Department of Public Safety, and a member of the department will provide this service.

Parking and Enforcement
Parking permits are required to park anywhere on campus. Parking permits are available at the Public Safety Office.

Emergency Phones and Lighting
Eight blue-light emergency phones are located at various places around campus. The phones are equipped with a red emergency button which, when pushed, automatically connects you to the 911 emergency operator and activates the blue light to flash, drawing attention to the area.

Students locked out of your residence hall rooms can contact the Department of Public Safety for assistance.

Rape Aggression Defense Program (R.A.D.)
R.A.D. is a national program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques taught for women only and is available to students. All courses are taught by nationally certified R.A.D. Instructors.

IC ALERT is a state-of-the-art emergency notification system that sends important messages from the College to your mobile devices, email and pop-ups messages to campus and personal computers.
