Request for Accommodations
Disability Services, which is housed in the Center for Academic Excellence, is the only office on campus specifically designated for students to voluntarily request disability related accommodations. Requests for accommodations are processed on an individual, case by case, basis. Students who had an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or a 504 plan in high school should identify themselves to Disability Services as soon as they are accepted into Illinois College, as some accommodations require additional time to secure.
The process for requesting accommodations begins by scheduling a meeting with the Disability Services Coordinator. Students will be asked to complete a Request for Services Application and provide appropriate documentation that verifies their specific qualifying disability/disabilities. Through the interactive interview process, the Disability Services Coordinator and the student will identify the need for reasonable accommodations to overcome the academic barriers they may face. Students who have provided appropriate documentation will receive a Course Accessibility Letter to present to their instructor.
Students who did not have an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or a 504 plan in high school, and believe they have a disability, are encouraged to contact the Disability Service Coordinator to discuss options for determining their eligibility.
