Yujiro Yamada
Dr. Yamada's teaching interests include Exercise Physiology, Exercise Testing and Prescription, Research Methods, and Applied Statistics. He also teaches Introduction to Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Personal Wellness and Fitness.
His research focuses on the acute and chronic changes in physiological and performance outcomes associated with exercise. With a broad background in Exercise Physiology, he specializes in resistance training, Blood Flow Restriction techniques, strength and muscular endurance assessments, and pain/discomfort measurements. He has also developed a distinct line of research investigating the effects of Blood Flow Restriction exercise on cognitive performance. Dr. Yamada's work is published in leading peer-reviewed journals, including Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, The Journal of Physiology, European Journal of Applied Physiology, and Applied Physiology, Nutrition, and Metabolism. Dedicated to student mentorship, Dr. Yamada emphasizes hands-on, faculty-student collaborative research. Drawing from his own experiences with exceptional mentors, he believes this applied approach cultivates essential qualities like creativity, curiosity, critical thinking, and discipline. His ultimate goal for these collaborative research experiences is to help students develop enduring skills, including scientific literacy, effective interpersonal communication, and problem-solving, that prepare them to be active citizens and successful professionals in their future careers.
