TO THE TROPICS: CELEBRATING COLLABORATION IN CUBA
Illinois College Sponsored Trip: May 26 to June 2, 2019

Illinois College was the first American college to sign a long-term collaboration agreement with two Cuban institutions - the University of Pinar del Rio and Soroa Botanical Garden. 

Celebrate the College's connections to Cuba by visiting this extraordinary country with other members of the Illinois College community.

  • Spend eight days exploring the country's rich culture and seven nights enjoying the luxury of 4-star hotels and the hospitality of casas particulares (bed and breakfast)
  • Go on a walking tour of colonial Havana
  • Visit a dynamic Cuban dance and percussion company
  • Take a guided tour of the Soroa Orchid and Botanical Garden
  • Attend a festive dinner honoring the collaboration between Illinois College and University of Pinar del Rio with faculty and students from both institutions

In addition to a professional tour guide provided by Global Exchange, the IC tour will be accompanied by President Barbara A. Farley and Dr. Steven Gardner, Francis McReynolds Smith Professor of International Understanding and Professor of World Languages and Cultures (Spanish).

Approximate cost: $3,000* :: Includes round trip flight from St. Louis, transportation and tours in Cuba, all accommodations, and two meals per day (typically breakfast and lunch)
