IC’s Moody nationally recognized as CEFMA Facility Manager of the Year

5.08.2019

Caitlyn Moody, assistant athletics director for internal operations, was named the Facility Manager of the Year by the Collegiate Event and Facility Management Association on Wednesday.

Moody joined Illinois College in 2013 and spent four seasons as an assistant women’s basketball coach with the Lady Blues. She became the director of athletic facilities in 2017 and was recently promoted to assistant athletics director for internal operations.

"Caitlyn is a great advocate for Illinois College athletics,” said Al Dillow, director of facilities at IC. “She has an in-depth knowledge of the athletic facilities and works hard to insure that capital projects are not only completed on time and on budget but that the quality the College expects is delivered."

This past year was very busy for the expansion and renovation of the athletics facilities at Illinois College. Moody played a very large role in project management with each of them. In addition to managing the specific projects, she also continued to handle all standard facility operation procedures, including campus event coordination, booking all events occurring within the athletic facilities and serving on the department senior staff.

Some of the projects that Moody oversaw this past year for Illinois College included the replacement of the Green Athletic Field turf, the installation of the Charlie Bellatti Scoreboard, the redesign and resurfacing of Bill Merris Court, the renovation of the Bellatti Fitness Center to include both an upgraded varsity weight room as well as the construction of cardiovascular and machine weight rooms, the purchase and installation of LED scorer’s tables for Sherman Gymnasium, the installation of ADA-compliant seating at England Stadium and the renovation of the varsity women’s locker room.

“I cannot fathom anyone doing a better job with all these projects,” said Mike Snyder, director of athletics at IC. “She was able to manage all 10 of these projects while also completing her daily responsibilities for the operation of the building. She also maintained her role as our department’s compliance officer and leading as a member of the athletics senior staff. She is knowledgeable, hardworking, and a great listener. She has an eye for facility work and is respected not only by her colleagues in the department, but through the campus as well. If there was ever someone deserving of this award, it is Caitlyn.”

“Having Caitlyn Moody serve as the director of athletic facilities and now as assistant athletics director for internal operations at Illinois College has positively changed the culture of the athletics department, facilities management, campus events and many other groups on campus,” said Katie Carls, director of campus events at IC. “She is not only one of the hardest working people at IC but has proven to be a great leader, communicator, collaborator and an overall great person to work with on events, projects and anything that goes on at Bruner Fitness and Recreation Center … Caitlyn is the ideal facilities manager and truly deserves to be named the Facilities Manager of the Year.”

The award ceremony for Moody and other honorees will be held Sunday, June 9, at the World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando, Florida, as part of the 2019 CEFMA Convention.
