Nick gained extensive insight into the financial industry by earning his degree with majors in accounting, economics and finance. His membership in IC’s investment Club gave him hands-on experience with the stock market and allowed him to visit notable industry sites, such as the Federal Reserve in St. Louis. Nick gained even more experience with two internships working in the public sector and involvement in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, where he helped local residents file tax returns. Nick says the faculty at IC, particularly Professor John Rush, associate professor of accounting, were inspiring and helped him narrow down potential career paths. After graduating in May, Montrey began audit work for a public accounting firm in Springfield.

“I’ve been able to get involved on campus a lot and meet new people and gotten a lot of guidance here at Illinois College.”
