Bio

Dr. McElroy's teaching style emphasizes sociological and criminological concepts with a concentrated effort to facilitate students in the application of this knowledge within their communities. His teaching style is directed toward action intended for issue resolution beyond the classroom. He remains committed to teaching ways in which each student can connect the classroom to the community by helping them recognize and advocate on behalf of prevailing issues based on the social, economic, political, or cultural interests of the student.

I most enjoy seeing students truly comprehend information from my courses, watching them develop an understanding of taken-for-granted aspects of social life, and facilitating the application of their knowledge and skills in ways that strengthen their communities in pursuit of equity and justice.
