Biography:
"I am a proud 1977 graduate of Illinois College. While attending IC, I was fortunate to build lifelong friendships and meet my wife, Hilda Miller, also Class of 1977. We made Jacksonville our home, raising our three daughters within a block of our beloved alma mater.

After a rewarding career at Horace Mann Insurance Company, I entered semi-retirement by launching my own consulting firm, Securities Compliance & Supervision Services. This work allows me to stay engaged in my field while giving back to the profession."

What excites you most about serving on the Alumni Association Board of Directors?

“I would not be who I am—or have accomplished what I have—without Illinois College and the friendships I formed there. These are challenging times for higher education as institutions face headwinds in enrollment and the ever-increasing costs of earning a degree. I want to support IC in its efforts to meet these and other challenges as we approach the bicentennial of its founding. We all need to work hard to ensure Illinois College not only survives but thrives, so that future generations can share in the extraordinary experiences it offers.”

What leadership experience do you have that prepares you for this role?

"In addition to my professional background, my civic involvement has included serving on the Jacksonville City Council, as President of the Jacksonville Historic Preservation Commission, and on the boards of several nonprofit organizations. Perhaps most importantly, I am currently in my third year as a member of the Illinois College Alumni Association Board of Directors. This experience has provided valuable insight into how the board operates and what it takes to lead it effectively."

My education there left me well-versed to face the workplace and has led me through a successful career in finance.
I am fortunate enough to still be in the Jacksonville area and frequently return to the Hilltop to jog, attend parades and Homecoming, eat at holiday meals, and take my kids to see athletic games. My oldest is already showing interest in attending IC, which makes me very proud. I always look back fondly on my time at Illinois College and plan to continue to support the College for many years to come!”
