JACKSONVILLE NAACP ANNUAL MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DAY CELEBRATION
Monday, January 20 :: 11 AM :: The Community Park Center
- Marching forward, not going back! This event will begin with a motorcade from Mt. Emory Baptist Church to the Community Park Building at 10 a.m. Those who wish to participate should arrive at Mt. Emory in time for departure. The program will begin at 11am at the Community Park Center, and will include a variety of speeches and performances (including one from our very own Dr. Brittney Yancy!)

- Join Jacksonville Invisible in providing a free hot meal for those in our community.

- The King Commemoration Committee welcomes you to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King's advocacy at the Flames of Hope: Speak In event. The evening will include members from our community reading excerpts of King speeches, performances from the IC's choir, performances from IC's Gospel Choir, and a message of hope. *Free King Commemoration Week shirts to the first 50 students who attend.
ANTI-RACISM TEACH-IN | CONVO CREDIT AVAILABLE
Wednesday, January 22 :: 7 p.m. :: Crispin Hall, Room 220
- To be anti-racist requires action. This teach-in explores the definition of anti-racism and explores strategies we can use daily to recognize and combat racist practices. Attendees will be encouraged to engage in conversation with others as we discuss what anti-racism could look like specifically at IC.

- Engage in an evening of renewed excitement and call to action through spoken word, education, dance, and song on the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.'s fight for justice. LEE DANIELS' THE BUTLER FILM SCREENING AND DISCUSSION | CONVO CREDIT AVAILABLE
Friday, January 24 :: 7 PM :: Sibert Theatre
- Join us to view the movie Lee Daniels’ The Butler, a historical drama film directed by Lee Daniels, starring Forest Whitaker as a White House butler who serves eight presidents over three decades, providing a perspective on major historical events like the Civil Rights Movement through his personal life and family struggles. There will be a discussion following the screening.
