The biology major feels that Illinois College provided her the freedom to realize her passion in physical therapy and the tools to share her findings with others. She says that the writing center helped her become excited to articulate and share her ideas. She also participated in an internship that showed her examples of careers in both physical and occupational therapy, solidifying her career choice in the field.

Rachel also says the opportunities she had during her time at IC helped her become a more outgoing individual. She joined the service organization Alpha Phi Omega where she met many of her peers. Rachel also had the chance to connect with others through travel when she participated in a BreakAway trip to France. After graduating Rachel plans to apply the skills she learned at IC to begin her career at a rehabilitation center in Chicago.

“You can talk about anything without judgement...I was able to open up to [my peers] for them to see my culture and for me to experience their culture.”
