Erin Hodgson '17
Erin Hodgson ’17 says having the ability to research and speak effectively in public gave her the confidence to pursue a career in law.
Erin was undecided about her plans after graduation until the summer before her senior year. Her experiences at IC including being an active member on the debate team, working with faculty mentors and finding opportunities to be involved at Illinois College all inspired her decision. After graduation, Erin started on her journey to earn her law degree at SIU School of Law on a full tuition scholarship.
“Illinois College sparked a passion in me for social justice and for equality and inclusiveness. That is why I am pursuing law. To represent those marginalized persons and fight for them. Practicing any type of law, the fast-paced, critical-thinking, demanding nature of debate would prepare you.”
