Graduate Ready

Erica Larson '19

For Erica Larson ’19, a biology major, the experiences at IC that helped develop her leadership skills were among the most valuable parts of her Illinois College journey.

Erica on campus

Erica loved her experience traveling to Jamaica on a BreakAway trip. Jamaica was Erica’s first international trip and she says she thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to try new foods, explore a new place and gain insight into another culture through experiencing it first-hand.

Erica also enjoyed getting involved on campus as a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and as a resident advisor. She had the opportunity to do an internship on campus helping organize literary society events as well as an internship at Heritage Health, a nursing facility that provides care and services for seniors. She credits these positions with giving her the confidence and leadership skills she will need to pursue her future career in healthcare management. She will apply what she has learned as she pursues a Master of Science Management degree from the University of Illinois after graduation.

“Each course I’ve taken has pushed me to become a little better as well as the countless opportunities through career services with the different internships and my resident life job. I’ve grown as a person and become more confident in myself.”
