Alyssa originally went to a large university in Missouri for her first year of college, but quickly felt lost among the large number of students on campus. She made the decision to transfer to Illinois College because she could play women’s basketball while being involved in a variety of activities in the classroom and on campus.

Alyssa immediately felt at home among other students and faculty on IC’s small campus. Her professors helped her get an internship at a hospital that allowed her to see what it would be like working in occupational therapy. The experience also helped her get into graduate school. She is now earning her master’s degree in occupational therapy at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri.

“Transferring to Illinois College allowed me to have amazing experiences in an atmosphere that is very unique. The professors and small class sizes here help you to be involved, and my experiences have helped me realize my strengths and become a better student, which makes me confident about my future.”
