Policy for Gender Identity and Access
Changing Your Name
The Office of the Registrar requests notification when there is a legal change of name. Additionally, individuals can update their preferred name through Connect2 if it differs from their legal name.
Questions About Pronouns
In collaboration with the Center for Student Engagement, Inclusion, and Belonging, we can offer consultations regarding pronouns and the best gender-inclusive practices. MyPronouns also offers some great introductory information on this topic.
Updating Your Illinois College Photo
If you are interested in updating the photo associated with your account, you may need to apply for a new ID Card. You can contact the Office of Residential Life to have a new ID issued.
Housing Policy
Fayerweather House is a gender-neutral living community that houses up to 18 students. Housing requests for other campus housing locations is processed on a case-by-case, interactive discussion with the Office of Residential Life and the student based on personal preference.
Restrooms
There are many single-user restrooms throughout campus. Some are gendered and some are non-gendered or gender neutral.
Reporting Harassment
If you would like to make a report regarding sex- or gender-based harassment, complete the online form. A report is not considered a Formal Complaint, and there is no obligation to file a Formal Complaint. Our office can still offer supportive measures and resources even without a Formal Complaint.
Please note that all faculty and staff (unless designated otherwise) are mandatory reporters and must report any known incidents of sex- or gender-based harassment.
