When you visit the Illinois College campus, the first thing you notice may not be our lively classrooms or cutting-edge laboratories. It will be the warm welcome for which our campus is known: a friendly “hi” from a passing student, an open door to a professor’s office, or a coach eager to talk about your game. Illinois College is a close-knit community of scholars—the kind of place where you will make lifelong friends with both students, faculty and staff.
You may next notice our buildings and green spaces. Our campus feels a lot like a New England village – a village that happens to have state-of-the-art facilities for research, athletics and recreation. The Parker Science Center supports science teaching and learning, and includes labs designed specifically for student-faculty research. The Bruner Fitness and Recreation Center rivals athletic facilities seen at many larger colleges and universities, and is home to 20 NCAA Division III varsity sports and a number of intramural programs. The Common Grounds Coffeehouse is a gathering place for students and faculty alike, while the comfortable Abraham Lincoln Residence Hall is home to 200 students. Over 85 percent of our students choose to reside in college housing
, including single-gender, coed, suite-style and apartment living options, along with a variety of theme or language houses because day-to-day life on campus is engaging and exciting.
When you arrive on campus as a student, IC Connections: The Illinois College First-Year Experience, is here to help you integrate into our community socially and academically. We’ll introduce you to opportunities that will fill your hours when you’re not in class, from entrepreneur clubs and literary societies to step squads and outdoor adventure clubs. Places like the Center for Student Involvement, Office of Religious Life and the Office of Career Services will alert you to a steady stream of events and avenues where you can explore new interests and make new friends. Your life as a student at Illinois College will be filled with experiences that enhance your academic experience and support your development as a citizen, scholar and leader.
