Life-defining experiences launch students toward success.
Since the launch of Inspiring Achievement, nearly 3,000 students have had hands-on learning experiences through internships, research, study abroad and the BreakAway program thanks to the $5.2 million raised for experiential learning.
More than 400 students have had global experiences through study abroad or BreakAway since 2013. All IC students have access to $1,000 toward a BreakAway trip.
These transformative experiences help students define who they are in the context of a broader world, experience work in a professional work environment with real projects, as well as develop a deep sense of curiosity through student-faculty research. These experiences provide real-world contexts for students to apply the learning they have accomplished in the classroom.
$7.3 million was raised for faculty support during the Campaign and nearly 600 students participated in research experiences with the guidance of faculty mentors.
Thanks to generous donors, nearly 100% of IC graduates have at least one experiential learning experience and the majority have had two or more.
STEM fields are competitive and not many other schools give undergraduates the opportunities to do the level of student-faculty research I did. When I interviewed for graduate school, everyone I spoke with was surprised when I described the research abilities I developed at IC.
