In October, the Illinois College Board of Trustees approved moving ahead with the first phase of a Crispin Hall renovation project. The project includes renovating the auditorium, foyer and restrooms.
The $1.2 million project will be funded using private gifts to Illinois College to create a contemporary learning space that will attract, engage and inspire students.

The auditorium will be a large-scale active learning space that will be flexible and dynamic. The new space is expected to be completed in August 2019 and will be used to house large events and special guest speakers in addition to holding regular class sessions.

Each academic year, 73 percent of students take at least one class in Crispin Hall. It was built in 1963 and named for Dr. Egerton L. Crispin 1902, a noted physician and IC alumnus. The College plans to raise additional funds to complete a second phase of remodeling that will return the building to its scientific roots by expanding lab space and developing additional interactive classrooms for psychology, mathematics, physics and computer science.
