The rising senior said she loves being a part of the tight-knit IC campus, and she appreciated how well students get to know their professors. She truly considers IC to be her home away from home. In the summer of 2018, Lindsay completed student-faculty research in collaboration with Dr. Jocelyn Lanorio, assistant professor of chemistry. She had the opportunity to present that work in the spring of 2019 at the American Chemical Society Meeting in Orlando, Florida, the largest chemistry conference in the nation. Lindsay said the research taught her technical skills that will carry into her future pursuits as she considers graduate school in forensic chemistry.  “During this research, I became more familiar with the instrumentation and chemistry machinery that I can use in my field,” she said. “I also gained a love for the lab and more experience outside the classroom.”

Despite her busy academic life, Lindsay was able to balance the responsibilities of being a student-athlete. As a member of IC swimming, she immensely enjoyed the beautiful facilities, her supportive coach and the opportunity to keep swimming as a large part of her life. She is thankful for a multi-faceted education that is preparing her well for the future.

“IC does a great job of giving you the liberal arts education; you get to be so well-rounded. I had the ability to have many experiences and take classes that I never thought I would take. I took stage crafts and I’m a chemistry major.”
