SUMMER ORIENTATION
Illinois College’s Summer Orientation is the first of many steps to making a smooth transition toward a successful college career. It provides students and their families the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the IC community. Orientation offers a chance to have your questions answered and issues addressed. Students will take placement tests in math and modern languages and a faculty member will be assigned to assist you in completing your schedule for fall courses. You will also hear more about all the college has to offer outside of the classroom as well. There is a lot to be covered in the required two-day overnight orientation program! We look forward to helping you take advantage of the opportunities that lie ahead.
In March or April, invitations to Summer Orientation are mailed to all new students. The invitation includes the link to the site where you can register online or you may register by using the reservation form included with the invitation. For your convenience, we have four Summer Orientation sessions for you to choose from. On the reservation form, you will be asked to rank your session preferences. All new students are expected to stay on campus overnight.
You will be placed into a Connections Group that is comprised of five to seven new students and a Student Connections Leader (CL). You will meet with a Faculty Orientation Leader who will assist you in scheduling your classes for next fall.
All sessions begin on Day One at check-in (1:00 - 1:45 p.m.) and continue through Day Two at 12:00 p.m. There are separate student schedules and parent schedules. It is important for you to attend an entire session, so please plan accordingly.
If you have any questions regarding the IC Connections Summer Orientation, please call the Student Activities Center at (217) 245-3094 or email connect@ic.edu.
