Peer Health Educators
In order to improve health education programming on campus, the Chesley Health and Wellness Center initiated a Peer Health Educator program in coordination with the BACCHUS student organization. The initial health related programs are scheduled to begin in the fall of 2004. PHE’s are a trained group of peer educators who raise awareness, provide education and are a resource to other students on a wide variety of health issues such as stress management, depression, anxiety, healthy relationships, safe sexual relationships, alcohol, drugs and eating/weight concerns. IC’s peer educator group will educate student groups on campus and design, organize and participate in awareness campaigns (e.g. Safe Spring Break, or Tobacco Free Campus Week). Peer Educators will also learn about professional resources on campus so that a student who needs help with a problem will be properly referred. PHE’s will not act as counselors.
