Nichol DelGiorno, organ instructor, holds the dual position as Director of Liturgy and Music at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception/Associate Director of Music for the Springfield Catholic Diocese. In addition, she also serves as College Organist for MacMurray College. A recipient of the Crystal Organ Fellowship, she is pursuing the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Organ Performance at the University of Illinois, with a cognate field in musicology. As a performer, DelGiorno has held concerts throughout the Midwest as both a soloist and accompanist. She is also an active vocalist and composer and serves as the dean for the Springfield chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
Why I love to teach music: I have been passionate about music my entire life and consider myself blessed to be able to share that passion with others. Remembering vividly how I felt when I first experienced different musical styles, I enjoy leading students on their own journeys through the history of music. In teaching organ, I like to share what I have learned in my own study to help organists make music, and not just play the notes, on an instrument that often seems intimidating.
