“Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” brings awareness to sexual assault

Illinois College’s Peer Health Educators would like to invite the community to “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” on Saturday, April 20, at 1 p.m. to bring awareness to sexual assault and gender violence.

“Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” is The International Men’s March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault & Gender Violence. It is a fun opportunity for men to raise awareness in their community about the serious causes, effects and remediation to sexualized violence.

Men are encouraged to put their sneakers aside and wear high heels for the mile walk that begins near the Illinois College seal. High heels will be available upon request. All proceeds benefit the Prairie Center Against Sexual Assault.

Preregistration will run through the week of Monday, April 15, in the Caine Student Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration will also be available the day of the event from 12 noon to 1 p.m. For more information call 217.245.3038 or email
