Norville wins two more NCAA titles, IC women take second place

Missy Norville won two more national titles and the Illinois College women's indoor track and field team took second place in the team standings at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday at North Central College in Naperville. Norville's titles were the fifth and sixth of her collegiate career, respectively.

Norville was best in the 60-meter hurdles on Saturday with a time of 8.52 seconds, a new NCAA Division III record. She won the event by nine-hundredths of a second.

Norville also won the triple jump with a mark of 41 feet, 1/4 inch, on Saturday, after winning the long jump on Friday afternoon. Norville's mark in the triple jump was nearly two feet better than the second-place finisher on Saturday.

“It feels really good and I couldn't ask for more because my first goal is always to win so I'm just really happy that I did,” Norville said.

Norville's three first-place finishes, combined with Megan Stringer's seventh-place finish in the pentathlon, gave the IC women's team 32 points, good enough for second place in the team standings. The second-place finish marks Illinois College's best team finish in any NCAA team sport in school history.

“We are ecstatic to bring home a team trophy to Illinois College,” said Illinois College head women's track and field coach Rachel Rohn. “These two girls have made me so proud and I am so excited to see what the outdoor season will bring with their leadership and a talented group of rising underclassmen.”
