Illinois College will commemorate the Holocaust with a ceremony on Monday, April 16, at 11 a.m. in Rammelkamp Chapel.
Holocaust Remembrance Week begins April 15 and Illinois College will be honoring the theme “Choosing to Act: Stories of Rescue” designated by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
The documentation of the events surrounding the Holocaust is evidenced in poetry, music, fiction, drama and nonfiction. These historical and cathartic works also serve as a touchstone to other global events.
Students and faculty, in collaboration with Professor Adrienne Hacker Daniels, will participate in readings, along with songs by the Illinois College Choir. The choir is led by Abby Musgrove and will feature pianist Garrett Allman and cellist Susan Phillips.
This presentation is free and open to the public.
