Riswold named to national advocacy group
Caryn Riswold, associate professor of religion at Illinois College, has been selected to participate in the Faith and Reproductive Justice Leadership Institute at the Center for American Progress in Washington, D.C.

The group’s goal is to help build a new generation of emerging and diverse group of seasoned leaders, women and men committed to reproductive health, rights and justice as part of their faith, conscience and moral code.

“This was a nationally competitive process, and I am honored to be among about a dozen scholars, activists and leaders selected to participate in the meetings and activities in Washington,” Riswold says.

What drew Riswold to this specific leadership institute was that it takes religion into account as a force for positive social change.

“This Institute is designed to empower those of us who are progressive faith leaders committed to preserving safe and legal access to women’s reproductive health care,” Riswold says.
“With this opportunity, I look forward to participating in advocacy work focused on justice for women, to which I have been committed for as long as I can remember.”

The Center for American Progress was founded in 2003 and is dedicated to improving the lives of Americans through progressive ideas and action.
