The Campus Writing Center is located in Kirby 104, just off the Mundinger Rotunda. Directed by Professor Cindy Cochran, the CWC offers peer consultation and faculty assistance on your writing, as well as a number of other support services to all writers at Illinois College. The Center also hosts special events. Our homepage is a constant work-in-progress, a useful online resource with a variety of helpful features and links to other relevant websites.
Basically, everybody visits the Writing Center who wants feedback on some kind of writing project, like essays, research papers, lab reports, speech outlines, creative writing, job or scholarship application letters -- any writing. However, the Writing Center is for improving your writing, so it does not proofread or copy-edit for people. The consultants sit down with writers and work on their writing with them in one-on-one sessions.
The Writing Center hires students -- mostly juniors and seniors -- who have good grade point averages, write well, and enjoy helping people. They come from all kinds of majors, including math and science, so all departments are welcome. The faculty also helps out as Visiting Faculty Consultants.
