Achieving Our Mission One Writer at a Time
	The Campus Writing Center is located in Kirby 104, just off the Mundinger Rotunda. Directed by Professor Cindy Cochran, the CWC offers peer consultation and faculty assistance on your writing, as well as a number of other support services to all writers at Illinois College. The Center also hosts special events. Our homepage is a constant work-in-progress, a useful online resource with a variety of helpful features and links to other relevant websites. Basically, everybody visits the Writing Center who wants feedback on some kind of writing project, like essays, research papers, lab reports, speech outlines, creative writing, job or scholarship application letters -- any writing. However, the Writing Center is for improving your writing, so it does not proofread or copy-edit for people. The consultants sit down with writers and work on their writing with them in one-on-one sessions. The Writing Center hires students -- mostly juniors and seniors -- who have good grade point averages, write well, and enjoy helping people. They come from all kinds of majors, including math and science, so all departments are welcome. The faculty also helps out as Visiting Faculty Consultants.

	Campus Writing Center
	The Campus Writing Center serves the entire academic community as a resource for all writing at Illinois College. Located in Kirby 104 (off the Rotunda), the CWC is staffed by student and faculty consultants more than forty hours per week. You can drop in or make an appointment. Students of every major who are excellent writers may take the opportunity to apply to become a consultant. Students who work in the center begin as apprentices, advance to consultants, and may be invited to join the leadership team in the center.

	Our Mission
	As part of a liberal arts college, the Campus Writing Center strives to help members of the college community as they practice and refine written communication for different purposes, audiences, and contexts. The Campus Writing Center exists to provide feedback and help in effective expository and creative writing to all members of the Illinois College community in every discipline, but especially to students. It offers consultation on writing assignments, pedagogy, and evaluation to faculty members. The Center also promotes the aesthetic appreciation of writing as a worthy and personally rewarding intellectual and artistic endeavor, for example by offering special writing events and an annual conference. Established in the fall of 1995 by the English Department, the Campus Writing Center is now an independent unit of the Illinois College campus.
