The 2010 Illinois College Men's Soccer team will be under new leadership as they take the field this Fall. Steve Golas takes the post as the Blueboys new head coach. Coach Golas is looking forward to building a program around a tremendous nucleus of young players as the 2010 team boasts only one Senior.
Returners Corey Marin, Tom Batsios, Josh Walters, and Goalkeeper Trevor Donahue will be relied upon heavily to set the tone with their experience, leadership, and work rate. Sophomore Josh Williams and newcomer Drew Comstock will team with Batsios, Walters, and Donahue forming a strong defensive corp.
In the midfield Marin and newcomer Kyle Mason expect to see the majority of playing time in the center of the park. Sophomores Travis Zuellig and Ray Fiifi along with freshmen Matt Justice and Phil Sporcich will be competing for starting spots on the flanks.
Upfront, returner Alex Gagnor along with newcomers Jeremy Moore and Chandler Polyte should provide a consistent scoring threat and athletic presence.
Senior Jimi Oluwateksi, sophomore Chance Vohlken and freshman Mikel Miller will add much needed depth and flexibility to this years squad.
Golas and his wife/assistant (Head Women's Coach, Becky Golas) have been incredibly impressed with the team's growth and progress throughout the pre-season and are looking forward to leading this very hungry young group to a great season and many successes over the coming years.
