Students at IC have created the Honor Code, a series of guidelines to help all of us maintain our academic integrity. All students are required to follow the Honor Code. In the small number of cases in which students don’t follow the Code, professors choose the penalty they think is appropriate. They report the Honor Code violation to the Dean of the College.
If a student doesn’t agree with the penalty, that student can appeal it. The Honor Board, a group with a majority of students and two faculty members, hears the appeal and makes a decision.
The IC community is proud that our students help each other learn about the meaning of academic integrity and that the Honor Board sponsors sessions to help students learn how to avoid plagiarism or other forms of academic dishonesty.
