Head Coach Candice Hoskins

Candice Hoskins of Raymore, Mo., will be entering her second year as the cross country assistant coach at Illinois College. Hoskins, a 2005 graduate of Truman State University, was a substitute teacher in suburban Kansas City during 2006 after serving as a teachers’ aide and research assistant at Truman State. She has served as an assistant middle distance coach with the KC Sprinters Elite Track Club in Kansas City since 2002 and completed an exercise physiology internship in Portland, Ore., in 2004.

During the 2007 season Hoskins coached the men to school record in the 800 meters, the mile, and the 1600 meter relay and she coached the women’s team to school records in the 400 meter dash an 800 meter run. Nine of her athletes garnered All-Midwest Conference honors, producing seven All-MWC performances.

As a member of the Truman State women’s track tem, Hoskins was a four-time MIAA Conference champion in the 1600 and 3200 meter relays, and a three-time NCAA Division II national qualifier, ranking as high as 12th in the 800 meters and second in the 1600 relay. Hoskins earned all-America track and field honors in 2004 as a member of her school’s 4 x400 meter relay, an she holds the Truman State indoor record in the 800 meter run, 4 x 400 relay, distance medley, and 4 x 440 relay. She also garnered academic all-MIAA Conference honors 12 times.

Hoskins currently holds a USA Track & Field Level 1 coaching certification, and is currently receiving her masters in sport management from the United States Sports Academy. She also serves as the assistant coach for indoor and outdoor track and field as well as assistant athletic director and facilities management.
