Head Coach Mike Brooks 4th
Season

Head
Coach Mike Brooks is entering his fourth year as track and field coach at
Illinois College. He is a 1976 graduate of Illinois State University and
has twenty eight years coaching experience at all levels of track and field. Brooks
holds a Level II Coaching Certification from USA Track & Field with an emphasis
in sprints and jumps.
Coach Brooks' recruiting program has seen steady growth over the past four years
as teams have grown from eight men and women in 2001, to near seventy for the
upcoming season. This year's freshman include twelve men and eleven women. He
is very excited about this year's recruiting class and feels there are some athletes
that will have an immediate impact in the conference.
Brooks attributes much of the success IC has experienced to a talented coaching
staff. He believes that track athletes at Illinois College can look forward
to being coached by sme of the best event coaches in the area. The staff
includes Tom Rowland (Multi-Events), Rob Lyons (Distance), Peg Brooks (Middle
Distance), Jerry Rohn (Pole Vault), Ron Summers and Russ Taylor (Throws), and
Coach Brooks (Sprinters and Horizontal Jumpers).
Brooks and his wife, Peggy, live in Jacksonville and have three daughters.
