Mike Worrell, in his 11th season as the head basketball coach at Illinois College, will direct the boys basketball camps. Coach Worrell was named Midwest Conference Coach of the Year in 1999 and 2003. The 2003 Blueboys captured the MWC Tournament Championship and advanced to the NCAA Division III National Tournament for the first time in school history. Coach Worrell's teams have qualified for the Midwest Conference Tournament four of the last six years. Worrell is a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches, has been a clinician at the NCAA Y.E.S. Camps at the Final Four twice, is a member of the NCAA Division III D3Hoops.com Top 25 Poll, has directed boys basketball camps for 17 years, and is the MWC representative for the NCAA Midwest Region selection committee.
Individual skills concepts including; shooting, ball handling, passing, rebounding, free throw shooting, 1 on 1 play, defense, and post moves will be taught. Each camper will receive a detailed shooting evaluation to take home with them.
The 2007 Blueboys Basketball Camps will be held in the new Bruner Fitness Center. The new facility has 6 full courts, a minimum of 16 baskets, a new swimming pool(with pool basketball hoops), and is air-conditioned. Jacksonville is 30 miles west of Springfield; 90 miles north of St. Louis; 70 miles east of Quincy; and 100 miles south of Peoria.
