After posting their best season record in seven years, the Illinois College men’s soccer program is looking to do even more in 2009. The Blueboy’s are returning all but three players from last season’s team that finished just two games away from the Midwest Conference Tournament. For third straight season Cameron Stuart earned All-Midwest Conference Honors. He was joined by Nils San Martin who earned his first All-Midwest Conference Honor.

 

The senior class boasts eight players that have contributed greatly to the recent success of the program. Travis Wilson, Zack Patton, Nick Graham, Brian O’Connor, Soji Oluwatukesi, Chris Schulte, Cameron Stuart, and Andrew Perkins will each bring their experience and leadership to every match this season.

 

Seven juniors join the seniors as a very experienced group with plenty of matches under their belt. Matt Oller brings his team high of eight assists from a year ago back to the table this season. Kevin Beerman return’s as the team’s goalkeeper bringing with him two years of starting experience. Matt Farnsworth, Matt Zufall, Matt Korte, Chris Stocker, and Nick Milford will each bring their skills, experience, and leadership to the field this season.

 

The smallest class on this roster is the group of four sophomores. Corey Marin returns after leading the team in scoring last season. Mike Ruyle, David Hellmer, and Tom Batsios round out the class and will look to contribute more this season.

 

Eight first year players join the team this season. Adam Lopez, Trevor Donahue, Alex Gagnor, Josh Nation, Matt Runkel, Chance Vohlken, Josh Walters, and Travis Zuellig will help contribute to the team’s efforts this season.

 

This team, full of experience and determination, is ready to make a run at their first Midwest Conference Tournament appearance. Last season left a hunger that has not been satisfied yet. And these players know that a few more positive results will get them to where they want to be.
