The goal of the Men’s Golf Program at
For those who want to participate in our golf program, they must make it a priority in their life. The priorities that are important to me are faith, family, academics and athletics. I do not expect our golfers to live by these exact priorities, but golf must be high on a very short list in order to be successful. In addition, our golfers should understand how I will deal with conflicts that may arise by knowing my personal priorities.
Secondly, it is important to me that those who choose to play on our golf team are the right people. Class, unselfishness, self-discipline and confidence are all qualities that I want our golfers to display. I want everyone who comes in contact with our team to have a positive feeling about what we are doing. Our conduct on the course, in the classroom and in public must always be above reproach. Those who display these traits will be put in a position to compete, regardless of ability.
The last quality that I find important to achieving our goal is a commitment to excellence. Everything we do must be done the right way every time. Golf is a game that keeps many things from beyond our control. We must strive for daily improvement in every aspect that we can control. This must be done not only on the course, but off the course as well.
In conclusion there are many choices available for student athletes. I advise everyone to find the best possible fit when choosing a college. Those who want to make golf a priority and are willing to work to be the best will find this program to be rewarding and very fulfilling.
