Thank you for your interest in Illinois College! Although most of our students enroll at Illinois College directly after high school, many students choose to enroll at the College after starting their college career elsewhere. The following information is designed to assist you with the application process. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need further assistance as a transfer student.
Illinois College is a four-year, private, liberal arts institution with an enrollment of 1,037 undergraduate students. We do not offer any graduate level programs. We are located in Jacksonville, IL in beautiful west central Illinois. Jacksonville is a friendly community of 25,000 people. It is located 30 miles west of Springfield, IL (state capital), 90 miles north of St. Louis, MO and 235 miles southwest of Chicago, IL.
Transfer students may apply for either the Fall semester or the Spring semester. Completed applications for admission must be submitted by January 1st for spring semester and August 1st for fall. The following items must be submitted to complete your transfer admission application:
- Application Parts 1 and 2 which are completed by the student
- Official high school transcript (for verification of graduation)
- Official college transcripts for all course work completed
The specific minimum requirements for transfer students include:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year high school or the equivilent with at least fifteen units of credit.
- Verification of good academic standing at the institution from which the applicant wishes to transfer.
- A minimum 2.0 GPA for their most recent full time semester of college level course work and a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA for all college level coursework attempted.
- A minimum of 24 transferable credits completed. If 24 credits have not been completed, the student’s high school record will also be evaluated.
Transfer students may transfer in no more than 66 credits from a 2-year college that will apply to the 120 hour degree requirement. In most cases credit is awarded for courses taken at regionally accredited institutions which have content similar to courses offered at Illinois College. No credit is given for any coursework for which the student received a grade of D or below. Final evaluation of transfer credit resides with the office of the Registrar and the Dean of the College.
