MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Courtney Allen and Ashley Law combined for 34 points Friday (November 26) but it wasn’t enough to prevent Rhodes College from posting an 80-71 victory over the Illinois College women in the opening round of the Rhodes College Classic.

Law, a sophomore from Chatham (Glenwood), led the Lady Blues with 18 points while Allen, a junior from Sherman (Williamsville), added 16 points and a game-high nine rebounds.

The Lady Blues (1-2) hit 58 percent (14-24) of their field goals in the first half and trailed the hosts 47-41 at the break. The visitors managed to shoot just 33 percent in the second half, finishing with a mark of 21-45 for 46 percent. Illinois College also committed 38 turnovers in the contest while Rhodes (2-1) was charged with 25.
