Students Helping Students
At IC, we work together for everyone’s academic success. Students help each other in many ways, including offering help with specific courses and assignments. Learning to ask for help is one of the most important keys to academic success, for students who got all A’s in high school to students in the middle of the pack. Anyone who wants help, to understand better, to raise their grade a little, can and does call on the help of other students.
Drop-In Tutors
Many academic departments hire students who have already taken a course to help those students taking it for the first time. These tutors are available in the afternoons and evenings for anyone interested in a little help understanding a professor’s ideas in lecture, figuring out what a text is saying, or with assignments. This semester’s consultant schedule is listed below.
Pick any time on the schedule and just show up with your questions. You can visit the consultants as many times as you like.
Individual Tutoring
If you would feel more comfortable with one-on-one tutoring or if none of the times fit your schedule, please call Jennifer Corbridge at 245-3276. She’ll arrange another time for you to meet a tutor, one-on-one.
Writing Center Consultants
The Writing Center serves the entire academic community as a resource for all writing instruction at the College. Located in Kirby 104 (off the Rotunda), the CWC is staffed by student and faculty consultants more than forty hours per week. You can drop-in or make an appointment.
