Resources for students

All First-Year students participate in IC Connections, an interlocking set of programs designed to help everyone make a good transition to college life. We want all new students to be prepared for the more difficult work of college courses, to learn the right study habits, and to get used to asking for help from professors.

The First-Year Seminars are a key part of IC Connections. The seminars are limited to 15 students and the professors double as students’ academic advisors. This means students and advisors share an interest in the course material and can easily get to know each other. Advisors who see their advisees several times a week can do a good job offering advice: about which courses to take, about how well the student is surviving that transition, about the student’s academic career at IC, and about plans for life after college.

The following link leads you to the rest of the programs involved in IC Connections. Below that is the list of First-Year Seminars for 2007-2008.
