Academics are the heart of a college education. Academic courses teach the skills students take with them to jobs and graduate programs. As part of a liberal arts education, these courses also prepare students to think. The ability to identify and solve problems is a hallmark of liberal arts graduates, prized by employers everywhere.
Faculty at Illinois College design and administer the curriculum, which is divided into 16 departments, 5 interdisciplinary programs, and 35 majors. Students complete a series of general education requirements and choose a major. Many students also choose a minor or a second major.
The Catalog contains a full description of all courses, majors, and graduation requirements. The Course Listing includes the titles of course offered in the current semester.
The Office of Academic Affairs coordinates the academic life of Illinois College, working with faculty, students, and staff. The office has responsibility for hiring new faculty. We also help students plan a course of study, offer advice about adjusting to the demands of studying for college courses, and work with students with any kind of academic difficulty. We can assist students in finding tutoring or career information.
You can find more information about the Office of Academic Affairs in the Staff section. We welcome students and faculty with questions to call (245-3010) or visit (Tanner Hall). Our hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
