Assistant Professor of French: Illinois College, a dynamic liberal arts college with approximately 1000 students on a historic campus in Jacksonville, IL, invites applications for a full-time, position in French beginning fall 2010. We are a faculty committed to excellence in teaching and scholarship. We are equally committed to offering students the opportunity of a liberal arts education and the academic support they need to achieve.

We seek a candidate with knowledge of second language pedagogy to teach all levels of French and to rebuild the program. Faculty in other departments are interested in developing interdisciplinary connections. The new faculty member must be able to use his or her research and teaching areas to interest students in the French language and in French and Francophone cultures. This is a non-tenure-track position, renewable for at least four years. PhD preferred; ABD seriously considered; native or near-native fluency required. All research specializations will be considered.
