Yates Fellows are first-generation college students selected to participate in a two-week intensive summer program, as well as a learning community that extends into the first year. Our program is intended to provide a jump-start for the first year of college and beyond. The Yates Fellowship Program includes coursework in writing, reading, and statistical literacy to help prepare you for the kinds of work expected in your first year of college. Yates Fellows are also automatically enrolled in Illinois College's TRIO Student Support Services program which provides constant support throughout the entire college career. In addition to the classroom experience, students will become familiar with the campus and its resources while participating in a variety of social and team-building exercises with the other Yates Fellows.
In addition to an application, applicants are asked to have a current instructor to provide a recommendation for their participation in the program. Please fill out the form here. If you have questions feel free to contact the Yates Fellowship Program Director, Olivia Raya at
