Graduate student, Indiana University
Not everyone knows an opera singer, unless you happen to know Mathilda Edge.
Mathilda is currently finishing a master’s degree in vocal performance at Indiana University with plans to pursue a doctorate degree in the same discipline.
“Over the past two and a half years at Indiana University, I have been cast in three different roles – The Milliner in Richard Strauss' ‘Der Rosenkavalier’, Romilda in George Frideric Handel's ‘Xerxes’ and most recently, Sandman in Engelbert Humperdinck's ‘Hansel and Gretel.’ Each opera has been an amazing experience.”
"What stands out to me as I look back on my tenure in the Illinois College Music Department (without trying to sound cliché) is the sense of family. I experienced in college, like most everyone, hard times, great times, tough decisions, easy decisions, bad days, good days, etc., and the faculty at IC were always there to support, encourage and give tough-love guidance in times of need. If it weren’t for the faculty’s encouragement and support, I would most likely not be following my dream to continue my studies in music like I am now!"
