The second annual Illinois College Diversity Week, November 11-15, will feature a campus wide series of events highlighting different aspects of diversity.
“Diversity Week is a time for the campus to get together and cherish the diverse world that we all live in,” Justin Mallett, director of diversity, says. “Celebrating diversity is to understand and be proud of who you are as well as to learn about and respect others. It's not just about you and me, it's about us.”
Throughout the week there will be events that celebrate diversity, from an art exhibit, to speeches, to discussions on interracial dating and much more.
Diversity Week is sponsored by the Coalition for Ethnic Awareness and the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs, Office of Residential Life, SAGE, Sigma Tau Delta, Black Student Union, IC Feminists, Sociology Club and Amnesty International.
For more information contact Mallett at 217.245.3271 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
“No matter where you come from, how you identify yourself, what opinions you have, you contribute to diversity,” says Mallett.
